March Recap

Monday, April 03, 2017
I swear to all that is holy, I feel like I just wrote this recap for February yesterday. March has been a whirlwind, and I know I said that about February, and about January, and wouldn't it be awesome if everything and everyone could slow down for a hot second? The month of March started and ended in Myrtle Beach for me – lots of miles on my car, lots of McDonalds sausage egg + cheese McMuffins, lots of other unhealthy eating habits. I spent only one full week in Charlotte but drove home every weekend, where I would walk inside the house and promptly climb into bed and fall asleep. Not my shining month.

Somewhere, my brain fell out of my head and I dared to joke about how I was the only person in McClatchy who wasn't sick last week. I woke up the next morning with chest congestion and a cough. I'm still sniffling.

What I read

Big shoutout to myself for managing to read SEVEN books, even though March was definitely the craziest month of 2017 so far. I'm especially proud that I was in the car so much that I easily finished a 19-hour audiobook in a week and a half. (Lady Midnight was an AWESOME audiobook, by the way!)

• Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
• By Your Side by Kasie West
• Frostblood by Elly Blake
• Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
• Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
• Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
• Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

The best book I read: Lady Midnight
The worst book I read: By Your Side

What I watched

• We finished New Girl – it was awesome. I cried a little. I can't wait for the new season to finish so I can watch it on Netflix!
• We started Parenthood to replace the New Girl void. Also awesome, but... I don't think I've ever hated anyone as much as I hate Haddie. Haddie is the worst. I doubt that she gets better but I hope that she gets better.
• Still trucking along through The West Wing. I started listening to The West Wing Weekly, which is an awesome podcast to pass my many hours in the car, and will probably start over on Season 1, Episode 1 of the actual show the minute I finish it.

What I ate

• So much fast food.

What I bought

• I dragged Pat to the mall before my embedding trips to Myrtle Beach s tarted in early March so I could add a few pairs of pants and basic shirts to my wardrobe. Let's talk about Old Navy's pixie ankle pants. Love.
• On the same shopping trip, I fell in love with the best T-shirts at Anne Taylor. I can't find the exact style I got, but these are similar.
• The new Stella and Dot collection launched on Thursday, and I was so excited to place my sample order. Too excited, probably. I'll do an unboxing soon!

What I did
• Worked.
• Worked some more.
• Drove a lot.
• Pat bought me Thomas Rhett concert tickets in Winston-Salem, so we adventured out there for that.
• He also took me to see Beauty and the Beast. He loves me, what can I say.
